Roadmap Flow Field Guide
The practical manual for Roadmap Flow — concepts, features, playbooks, and troubleshooting for product managers.
Main flows
Local-first workspaces
FreeRoadmap Flow keeps your roadmap on your computer. This page explains what that means and why it is a deliberate choice.
Roadmap items
FreeA roadmap item is the basic unit of a Roadmap Flow roadmap. Everything on the canvas is an item, or a way of arranging items. This page explains what an item is and how to pick…
Statuses, priority, and confidence
FreeA date on a roadmap tells people when. It does not tell them whether to believe it. Three signals on every item do that work: status, priority, and confidence.
Features
Milestones
ProA milestone is a saved snapshot of your roadmap at a moment in time. Later, you can compare the roadmap against it and see exactly what moved. Milestones are a Pro feature.
Brand kit
ProThe brand kit puts your company's identity on stakeholder exports — name, logo, color, footer, and a confidentiality label. It is a Pro feature.
Canvas
FreeThe canvas is the heart of Roadmap Flow. It is the roadmap itself, drawn the way an audience will see it, and it stays visible no matter which tab you are in.
Check — roadmap health
FreeThe Check tab grades your roadmap and lists exactly what is wrong with it, before a stakeholder does it for you.
Config — workspace setup
FreeThe Config tab is where you set up the structure a roadmap needs before it can be read clearly: workstreams, owner teams, typography, and branding.
Export presets
FreeAn export preset decides which sections a stakeholder export contains. The built-in presets are free; saving your own custom presets is a Pro feature.
Items
FreeThe Items tab is the roadmap as a working list — searchable, sortable, and groupable. It is the fastest way to find and triage items.
Progress
FreeThe Progress tab answers a question that is hard to answer from memory: what changed on this roadmap, and when.
Saved views
ProA saved view stores a combination of filters, layout, and detail level so you can return to exactly that framing in one click. Saved views are a Pro feature.
Share — exports and transfer
FreeThe Share tab is how a roadmap leaves Roadmap Flow — as a stakeholder-ready file, as a package for another Roadmap Flow user, or as a backup.
Playbooks
Running an executive update
FreeThis playbook prepares a short, credible roadmap update for a leadership audience.
Your first roadmap in 15 minutes
FreeThis playbook takes you from an empty workspace to a roadmap you could show someone. It follows the five-step spine end to end.
Roadmap health review
FreeThis playbook is a focused pass to raise the quality of a roadmap before it goes in front of anyone.
Producing a stakeholder export
FreeThis playbook turns the roadmap on your screen into a file that is ready to send.
