Export problems

This page covers common problems when exporting a roadmap from the Share tab.

What happened

An export did not produce the file you expected. Common forms of this:

  • The export ran, but the file is missing items or sections.
  • The export failed with an error message.
  • The file saved, but you cannot find it.
  • A branded export did not use your branding.

What to check first

  • Missing items. Check the canvas filter bar and the status legend chips. Active filters are applied to exports — a filtered canvas produces a filtered file.
  • Missing sections. Check the selected export preset. The preset controls which sections the file contains.
  • File location. On the desktop, exports save to the exports folder inside your workspace folder. The success message includes a Show in folder action.
  • Branding missing. Branded exports require the Pro plan and a brand kit configured in Config. Without both, exports use the default styling.
  • Browser version. In the browser, files download through the browser and there is no exports folder.

Safe recovery steps

  1. Clear any filters you did not intend to apply, then export again.
  2. Select the correct export preset for the content you need.
  3. Re-run the export and use Show in folder to confirm the file.
  4. Open the file to verify its contents before sending it.
  5. If one format keeps failing, try another format to learn whether the problem is that format or the export in general.

What not to do

  • Do not send an export you have not opened.
  • Do not treat an export as the saved copy of your work. Your roadmap is saved in the workspace; exports are separate copies.

When to contact support

Contact support if exports fail across every format, or if a format produces a file that will not open in its target application. On the desktop app, include the roadmap-flow.log file from the operating system's application logs folder.
