Administrators
The Administrators page answers one question quickly: who can do what to this company. It is also the only place ownership can be handed to somebody else.
What it does
Four blocks, each listing the people who hold that authority and whether they hold a licensed seat:
- Company owner — exactly one, always. Shown with a Transfer ownership button if you are the owner.
- Company admins — manage people, teams and roles. They cannot transfer ownership and cannot change billing.
- Billing admins — manage the subscription, seat quantity and invoices. They do not get access to roadmap content.
- Team admins — listed per team, because their authority is per team.
Transfer ownership asks you to pick a new owner from your active company members and to tick a confirmation box. On transfer, the new owner becomes company_owner and you are demoted to company_admin — not dropped, so you keep managing people. Exactly one active owner exists at every moment, and the change is written to the audit log.
If the new owner does not already hold a licensed seat, they are given one. When your pool is full, the seat you are releasing covers it.
When to use it
- Before granting anyone a role, to see who already has one.
- You are leaving the company, changing jobs, or handing a product line over.
- An auditor asks who your administrators are.
- You are wondering why a colleague cannot open Seats and billing.
When not to use it
- To change somebody's role. Roles are changed on People. This page is the summary and the ownership action.
- To find out who did something. That is the Audit log.
3-minute flow
- Open Administrators.
- Read the four blocks top to bottom.
- If one block is empty and should not be, note who is missing.
- Go to People, find them, and set the role there.
- Come back and confirm they appear in the right block.
Best use cases
- A twice-yearly review: confirm every administrator is still at the company and still needs the authority.
- Proving separation of duties to a security reviewer in one screenshot.
- Making sure at least two people can administer the company, so a holiday is not an outage.
Common mistakes
- Having exactly one administrator, who is also the owner, who is also on annual leave.
- Making the finance contact a company admin because they asked for "admin". Company admin gives them people, not money. Billing admin is what they meant.
- Transferring ownership to somebody who has not signed in yet. The new owner has to be an active company member already — an invited person who has not accepted does not qualify.
